After initial cancer diagnosis, patients are often lost and in urgent need for a treatment plan. Doubts about treatment plan and whether there are alternatives approaches are common. Wanting to seek a second opinion on your treatment plan is a reasonable and important next step to take. The SecondOpinion is a non-profit organization in San Francisco that provides free professional second opinion on your diagnosis and treatment plan.
The Second Opinion has been serving Californian patients for fifty years. Currently, the organization consists of over 70 volunteering physicians from Stanford University, UCSF and nearby relevant professionals. In order to use this service, you must be: 1) an adult, 2) resident of California, and 3) have a cancer diagnosis. Once you set up a case with the organization, a team of professionals will start gathering information about your diagnosis. The organization meets 3 times a month to review applied cases; you and your family will be invited to attend the meeting when your case is being evaluated, recording of the meeting will be provide.
The office is located in San Francisco, if you cannot attend the meeting in person, you may call to participate. In general, one consultation is given to each applied case. Contact information of The Second Opinion is:
